Meg has been coaching hockey since 2008, in the fitness industry since 2007, has a Bachelor of Science in Health & Human Performance, and is a certified Health Coach & Group Fitness instructor. The whole goal is be healthy, feel energetic, and give confidence. That said, it's often easier to approach it from a "it's not about you" mentality.
When it comes to getting healthy as an adult, whether that's through coaching or classes, it can't be about you, or you won't do it.
In a group fitness class, it's not about you, or how you look, or how perfect you do the move. It's about the energy in the room lifting everyone up to be better when they leave that room.
Dry-land training with youth hockey kids, it's not about "you", or any one individual, it's about the team. It's about getting better as a group. Each person's strength builds the team and the program, and then leaks into the kids that are younger than them. They see it and they want to be it.
Energy is one of the most contagious things out there. You can sneeze on someone and they may or may not catch your cold, but bring your energy into someone else's space and they will almost always feel some effect from it. Your surroundings have a major effect on your energy in every sense of the word. Controlling your surroundings is the first step to controlling your energy.
